Scouting for Food, organized by the Central Florida Council, is the largest single-day food drive in the nation, initiated in 1985 in St. Louis, Missouri. This annual event involves Scouts collecting food donations on the first two Saturdays of November to aid local food insecure families. Monetary donations are also accepted and used to purchase additional food, which is delivered to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida and other local food pantries, benefiting multiple counties in the region. The program not only feeds those in need but also instills the values of community service and generosity in the youth participants.
