The Civil Air Patrol's Cadet Programs are designed to inspire the nation's youth to become leaders in aerospace and public service. Established in 1942, these programs engage cadets aged 12 through 18 in a comprehensive curriculum that includes leadership, aerospace education, physical fitness, and character development. Cadets typically meet weekly and participate in additional activities, including a summer encampment. The program, which boasts 25,000 cadets across 1,000 squadrons nationwide, requires no military obligation but has been a stepping stone for many into the USAF Academy.
